COVID-19 Outbreak Control: Strengthening Infection Prevention and Case Management in Yemen 2020

 

This project aims to control the spread of COVID-19 in Yemen by increasing awareness of infection prevention and control (IPC) among health workers and communities and by building the capacity of healthcare professionals in managing severe COVID-19 cases, particularly in intensive care units (ICUs).
The project is funded by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and implemented through a collaborative effort between both partner organizations.

 

Key Activities

  1. Community and Health Worker Awareness:
  • Conduct awareness sessions on COVID-19 prevention measures.
  • Distribute informational materials in health facilities and public spaces.
  • Promote hygiene practices and social distancing through local media and community networks.
  1. Capacity Building of Health Workers:
  • Organize training workshops on IPC protocols in healthcare settings.
  • Train healthcare providers on the clinical management of severe COVID-19 cases, especially in ICUs.
  • Provide simulation-based training on ventilator use, oxygen therapy, and patient monitoring.
