The Regional Association of Berlin, Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania of the German-Yemeni Medical Association held its fifth annual meeting on Saturday, 14 February 2026, at Akkon University of Human Sciences in Berlin. The event brought together a remarkable number of Yemeni doctors, health advisors, academics and medical students from various specialties.
The meeting was characterized by a positive atmosphere and engaging scientific discussions, reflecting the strong professional commitment and close connection among the participants. The program took place from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. under the scientific supervision of Dr. Mohammed Al Ashwal, member of the association’s board.
The event opened with a welcoming speech by Dr. Mutaher Azazi, Chair of the Branches Committee and coordinator of the committee across the three federal states. He welcomed the attendees and emphasized the importance of such meetings in promoting scientific and professional exchange, as well as building a strong network of Yemeni doctors and health academics in Germany.
The scientific program included several specialized lectures covering current medical, academic and social topics. These included projects by Akkon University and the IRIA Institute in Yemen, the mental health of Yemeni students in Germany, conservative and surgical management of intracranial bleeding, sustainability and the common good economy in modern medicine, surgical care in low- and middle-income countries, urological emergencies, and opportunities for establishing medical practices in Germany.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Wadah Al-Hakimi, Deputy Chairman of the Association, thanked all attendees and presented the association’s goals, activities and future plans. He highlighted the importance of active member participation in strengthening the association sustainably and supporting the Yemeni healthcare system.
Dr. Yahya Al Fakeh, Chair of the Committee, expressed his appreciation to the speakers and participants for their commitment and stressed the importance of continuing such scientific and professional events. The meeting concluded with a group photo and a shared lunch at Hadramout Restaurant in Berlin.
